Major dissimilarities or difference between growth and development can be highlighted as follows:
1. Introduction
Growth: Progressive increase in size, shape or number of an entity for a specific period of time.
Development: Overall increase and improvement (size, shape, number, ability, skills etc) of an entity throughout its life. 

2. What Is It?

Growth: It is quantitative enlargement
Development: It represents both quantitative and qualitative enlargement

3. Maturity

Growth: It has fixed maturity period and stops growing after maturation.
Development: It has no maturity period and continuous till the end.

4. Measurement

Growth: It has quantitative measure and can be measured in terms of height, weight, number etc.
Development: It has no quantitative measure and measures only qualitative improvement.

5. Nature

Growth: It is cellular in nature
Development: It is organizational in nature

Growth: It has a limited scope because it is only a portion of development
Development: it has a wider scope than growth

7. Positive/Negative

Growth: Its value can be positive or negative like negative GDP growth, negative population growth rate etc.
Development: It is always positive
