The main dissimilarities or difference between tumor and cyst can be highlighted as follows:
1. Introduction
Tumor: It is a solid or fluid filled mass of abnormally grown cells or tissues in a certain part of our body.
Cyst: A sack like structure lump filled with air, liquid or semi solid substances under the skin on any part of our body.
2. Life Threatening
Tumor: Malignant tumors are life threatening
Cyst: Generally, cysts are not life threatening
3. Cancerous Or Not
Tumor: Some tumors (malignant tumors) may cause cancer
Cyst: Generally, cysts do not cause cancer
4. Feel
Tumor: Tumors feel harder because of solid mass
Cyst: Cysts feel softer than tumors because of liquid and air
5. Causes
Tumor: Exact causes are not known but some tumors are genetic
Cyst: Injury, infection, chronic inflammatory etc. are some causes of cyst
6. Warning Signs
Tumor: Fever, headache, weight loss, sweating etc. are some symptoms of tumors.
Cyst: Feeling of abnormal lump under the skin. It may be painful or not.

7. Detection
Tumor: Tumors can be detected by MRI scanning and microscopic tests
Cyst: Cysts can be detected by X-ray or MRI scanning
8. Treatment
Tumor: Tumor can be removed by surgery
Cyst: Cysts can be treated by draining fluid with the help of needle or by surgical remove.
